Last updated: February 7, 2025
AInVFX ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit our website ainvfx.com, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
1. Information we collect
We collect two main types of information:
-
Information you provide directly:
- Contact form: When you use our contact form, you provide us with your name, email address, company, country and any message you choose to include. You also have the option to indicate whether you consent to receive non-transactional emails (e.g., updates on upcoming classes). You may also attach files, such as a CV or cover letter, when applying for a job.
- Mailing List subscription: If you subscribe to our mailing list, you provide us with your email address.
- Masterclass enrollment: If you enroll in a Masterclass, you will provide additional information through our third-party payment processor (see "Disclosure of your information" below). We do not store your payment information.
-
Information collected automatically (server logs): Our web hosting provider (located in the United States) automatically collects certain information about your visit. This is standard practice for most websites and is stored in server access logs. This information may include:
- Your internet protocol (IP) address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Date and time of your visit
- Pages you viewed
- Referring website (if any)
- A unique identifying number may be assigned to each visitor.
This information is used for website administration, security, and to analyze trends in aggregate. It is not used to identify individual visitors except in the case of security investigations or as required by law. We do not use cookies.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiry: We use the information you provide via the contact form to respond to your questions, provide information about our services, and schedule Masterclasses if requested, or evaluate a job application.
- To process Masterclass enrollment: Information collected through our third party provider is used to enroll you.
- To send emails:
- Transactional emails: We may send you transactional emails related to your inquiry or Masterclass enrollment (e.g., confirmation emails, receipts).
- Non-transactional emails (with consent): If you have consented to receive non-transactional emails, we may send you updates about our services, new Masterclasses, or other relevant information. You can opt out of these emails at any time (see "Email preferences" below).
- To improve our website: We use the aggregated, non-personally identifiable information from server logs to understand how visitors use our website and to improve its functionality and content.
- To maintain website security: We use server log information to monitor for and prevent security threats.
- Masterclass recordings: Recordings of Masterclasses are used to share them with attendees. We may also use, reproduce, distribute, and publicly display recordings of the Masterclasses, in whole or in part, on our website, social media platforms, or other marketing materials.
- To communicate with you: We may use your provided information to communicate updates and relevant information.
- To provide the services: If we are not able to collect and process you personal information, we might be unable to provide some or all of our services to you.
3. Disclosure of your information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below:
- Service providers:
- Web hosting provider: We use a third-party web hosting provider in the United States to host our website. This provider has access to the server log information described above.
- Payment processor: We use a third-party payment processor to handle Masterclass enrollment. This processor collects and processes your payment information, but we do not store this information on our servers.
- Email service provider: We may use a third-party email service provider to send emails (both transactional and, if you consent, non-transactional). We have ensured that our hosting, email and payment providers have appropriate security measures in place to protect this data. The location of the servers in the US means your data may be subject to US laws, including the USA PATRIOT Act.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a subpoena, court order, or government investigation, from Canadian or US authorities.
- Protection of rights: We may disclose your information if we believe it is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the rights, property, or safety of others.
- Public display of Masterclass recordings: As stated in our Terms and Conditions, we may publicly display portions or complete recordings of Masterclasses. This may include your image, voice, and chat contributions if you participate with your camera/microphone on or use the chat feature.
4. Data retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including:
- Contact form and mailing list data: We retain this information as long as you remain subscribed to our communications or until you request deletion. This includes attachments, which are retained only as long as necessary to process your inquiry or application.
- Masterclass enrollment data: We retain information related to your Masterclass enrollment as required for accounting and legal purposes.
- Server log data: Server log data is typically retained by our hosting provider, in accordance with their standard practices.
- Masterclass recordings: Recordings are shared with the participants and kept as long as needed to provide our services.
We may also retain aggregated or anonymized data, which does not identify individual users, for analytical and statistical purposes.
5. Your rights
Under PIPEDA and other Canadian privacy laws, you have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Access: You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you. We will respond to your request within 30 days, as required by law.
- Correction: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information we hold about you.
- Withdrawal of consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide you with certain services (e.g., if you unsubscribe from all emails, we cannot send you Masterclass confirmations).
- Deletion: You can request to delete any personal information we hold about you.
Email preferences: You can opt out of receiving non-transactional emails at any time by:
- Clicking the "unsubscribe" link provided in any non-transactional email.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us directly. We will need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures, including administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Third-party links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., the payment processor). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any websites you visit.
